Our nephew, Matt Williamson, married Victoria Loftin, on February 17, 2018, in Destin, Florida. They met while attending The University of Tennessee Chattanooga. Matt said Victoria was dating a bunch of “losers” and he had to wait for his chance to finally ask her out. A wonderful friendship and “love” ensued. They are perfect for each other with their bubbly personalities and great smiles.
Matt asked me to speak and “bless the meal.” Below is my speech of “Wedding Wishes.”
WEDDING WISHES
The beach is a lot like life.
We come to play, eat, and drink with our family and friends.
We soak up the sun, frolic in the sand and take a dip
in the sea.
Great times and wonderful memories.
There are also devastating hurricanes and dreadful storms that can destroy everything in their path.
Through all of it, the good and the bad, the one constant is the tides.
The waves, never ceasing, one after the other. The heartbeat of the sea.
Marriage is much the same.
It’s all fun and sun in the beginning.
Romantic dinners, special occasions, starting a family.
Then the unavoidable waves and storms of life take over.
Like a hurricane, it can be devastating.
The time, effort and work to rebuild will break you or bring you closer than ever.
Just like the endless tides, the heartbeat of the sea, let your never ending love for each other guide you through this wonderful journey of life together.
