Hi everyone. I’ve been sitting at the front screen door waiting for my mommy to get home. It’s about 4 o’clock. That’s what time I usually eat supper. She always fixes my supper cause I have to have all my medicine.
She’s out shopping with her good friend Ming. I always like when my mommy goes shopping. I like going through the bag when she gets home. I got tired of waiting, so I got back on the bed and listened to my classical music.
Daddy says, “Hey! Squeeky! Mommy is home.”
I thought, “Oh boy! What did she buy shopping, today?”
So, mommy comes into the bedroom, puts the bag down and gets out a pair of pretty pink, flowery kind of shorts and lays them on the bed.
Daddy: “Well tell me about your trip.”
Mommy: “Well, we went up to Wesley Chapel to the new cookie store. Ming has never been to that cookie store.”
Daddy: “Oh yeah, the cookie store that Bailee took you to in Chattanooga. Well, what did you get?”
Mommy: “Yeah. It’s called Crumbl Cookies. MIng had never been to one. She loved it. She got a chocolate cookie for herself and some other kind of cookie for Joe.”
So, mommy goes in the kitchen and brings back this big cookie thing. It’s some kind of pumpkin cookie she got for my daddy. Well, while they’re preoccupied with the cookie, I eased over and laid down on those new shorts. Oh boy! They’re comfortable. I just love the smell of new clothes. Especially when they’re pink, my favorite color.
Daddy: “Oh that looks really good.”
Mommy: “Do you wanna try it?”
Daddy: “No. Better wait til later. I don’t want to ruin my supper. Where else did you all go?”
Mommy: “Well, I took her to Sonic. Do you know she’s never been to a Sonic.? They don’t have many down here.”
Daddy: “Oh really? They don’t?”
You see, my daddy doesn’t eat that fast food stuff. Except, if it’s free from Tijuana Flats or, now, Culvers, since the Tampa Bay Lightning give out free meal vouchers when the Lightning score 3 goals in a home game. My daddy likes free stuff.
Mommy: “Yeah, Ming got a cheeseburger, fries and a drink and I got tater tots. We also went to Belk. That’s where I got the shorts.”
Daddy, “I thought there was a Belk down here at our mall.”
Mommy: “No, they don’t have one around here anywhere.”
Daddy: “Well, I’m so glad that you and Ming have a lot of fun together. I thought she was going to work on a flight this week.”
Mommy: “No, she canceled it. She and her friend, Laura, are going on their yearly cruise in November.”
All this time I’m thinking, “They don’t even know I’m laying on these pretty, new shorts. Darn it! Just like in baseball, when a commentator points out a guy is throwing a no hitter, I jinxed myself.”
Daddy: “Oh look? Squeeky likes her new shorts.”
Mommy: ‘Now, Squeeky! Hold on just a minute. Those shorts are mine!”
And I thought, “Bless your heart. Mommy, you just think these are your shorts.”
Oh my mommy and daddy are so cute. They’re such easy pushovers.
