Mommy, let’s go visit Brylie!

Hi everybody. I’ve been out doing some shopping with my mommy. She goes to Iowa to visit Brylie and her mom, Dani, but I’ve never been. You see, Brylie used to live in Chattanooga like us. My mommy used to work with Dani and they became really good friends. Mommy is like a second mom to Dani. I guess I’m ok with that. So when Brylie was born, my mommy used to babysit her. So, naturally, Brylie became like a granddaughter to us. I liked Brylie because she always wanted to eat Kraft Mac and cheese. I like cheese too. Surprising, isn’t it?

Well, about 10 years ago, Brylie came to visit us, in Clearwater, when she was three.

I wish she would come back. She’s almost grown up now and is in the 8th grade. She loves sports like me. She plays volleyball and softball at Westwood, in Sloan, Iowa. Out in the corn fields. Well, I think everywhere in Iowa is in the corn fields. Brylie is a theatrical gal too. She loves to dance and sings in the school choir.

I was watching the Yankees and White Sox play in the Field of Dreams game with my mommy and daddy and I thought, “Hey, that would be a fun place to visit.”

Me: Mommy, let’s go visit Brylie! She lives close to that place? Doesn’t she?

Mommy: Well, not real close, but it looks the same. You can go next time, but you have to dress like they do out there.

Me: What do you mean? They don’t wear flip flops and shorts all year like we do?

Mommy: Oh no. They wear jeans, boots and cowboy and cowgirl hats. Plus, it gets really cold up there, too.

So, she showed me a picture of Brylie on her tractor. You see, she lives out on a big farm where they have cows, goats, horses and all those kind of critters. They have to round up the cows sometimes. So, Brylie gets on her red tractor and gets those cows to moving!!

Me: Well, ok mommy, let’s go shopping for one of those hats. I don’t wear shoes unless they’re flip flops!

So, my mommy loaded me up in my pink carrier and off we went to Petsmart. So, we’re in there looking around, when, all of a sudden, this young dog comes up and tries to start sniffing my butt through my carrier.

Me: Hold on there a minute young fella! I’m old enough to be your grandma! Cut that out! Mommy, can we get out of here and go shopping at Target? They don’t have very many dogs in there.

Target is real close by. We go in. I could relax some, since I don’t see any butt sniffers near by. We started looking in the girls clothes section, but most of the hats were too big.

Me: Hey, mommy, how about the doll section.

Mommy: Well, look at you, the shopper. That’s a great idea.

So, we found a little one that would go on a doll and it fit me just perfect! I’m not sure how I look in this cowgirl hat because I’m not much of a cowgirl, country music kind of gal. I like watching baseball and listening to classical music with my dad. So, when we got back, I put on my new hat to show my daddy.

Me: Hey, daddy? What do you think?

Daddy: Oh, my sweet gal! You look so cute. Brylie will love that.

Well, folks, if my daddy says I look cute, that’s all I need to know.

I really like the hat. I even wore it to bed to watch the Yankee game.

So, til next time, like my daddy says. Go Yankees !!
